The Lord's Prayer

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,

your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread.

And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.

- Matthew 6:9-13

David's Prayer of Repentance

Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions. Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin.

For I know my transgressions, and my sin is always before me. Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight; so you are right in your verdict and justified when you judge. Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me. Yet you desired faithfulness even in the womb; you taught me wisdom in that secret place.

Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. Let me hear joy and gladness; let the bones you have crushed rejoice. Hide your face from my sins and blot out all my iniquity.

Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.

Then I will teach transgressors your ways, so that sinners will turn back to you. Deliver me from the guilt of bloodshed, O God, you who are God my Savior, and my tongue will sing of your righteousness. Open my lips, Lord, and my mouth will declare your praise. You do not delight in sacrifice, or I would bring it; you do not take pleasure in burnt offerings. My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart you, God, will not despise.

May it please you to prosper Zion, to build up the walls of Jerusalem. Then you will delight in the sacrifices of the righteous, in burnt offerings offered whole; then bulls will be offered on your altar.

- Psalm 51

David's Prayer of Praise

I will exalt you, my God the King; I will praise your name for ever and ever. Every day I will praise you and extol your name for ever and ever.

Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; his greatness no one can fathom. One generation commends your works to another; they tell of your mighty acts. They speak of the glorious splendor of your majesty— and I will meditate on your wonderful works. They tell of the power of your awesome works— and I will proclaim your great deeds. They celebrate your abundant goodness and joyfully sing of your righteousness.

The Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love.

The Lord is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made. All your works praise you, Lord; your faithful people extol you. They tell of the glory of your kingdom and speak of your might, so that all people may know of your mighty acts and the glorious splendor of your kingdom. Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures through all generations.

The Lord is trustworthy in all he promises and faithful in all he does. The Lord upholds all who fall and lifts up all who are bowed down. The eyes of all look to you, and you give them their food at the proper time. You open your hand and satisfy the desires of every living thing.

The Lord is righteous in all his ways and faithful in all he does. The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. He fulfills the desires of those who fear him; he hears their cry and saves them. The Lord watches over all who love him, but all the wicked he will destroy.

My mouth will speak in praise of the Lord. Let every creature praise his holy name for ever and ever.

- Psalm 145

Prayer is how we talk to God, and the Bible is how God talks to us. But what should we look for when He speaks? As you read Scripture, keep an eye out for five key things, summed up in SPECS. Most passages include at least one of them.

The Spiritual Growth Equation
Spiritual Growth
=
Hearing God Read and listen to Scripture, let God speak to you through His Word. × Processing Reflect and meditate on what God is saying to you, using the SPECS method. × Responding Act in obedience to what God reveals.

Did you know there is a formula for Spiritual Growth? It starts with hearing from God through Scripture, taking time to process what He is saying, and then responding in obedience to what He reveals. It's as simple as that 🌱.

A Bible Study Tool

Opening the Bible in the modern era can often feel like an intimidating and overwhelming endeavor. Questions naturally arise: Where do I start? How does this passage fit into the bigger story? Who is Melchizedek, and why is that donkey talking? We are privileged to live in a time when we have access to the full revelation of Scripture—from Genesis to Revelation. While this is a tremendous gift, it can also make it challenging to understand where we are in the biblical narrative and how each part connects to what comes before and after.

This is where Anchor comes in. Rather than being another interpretive resource, Anchor is simply a Gospel Tool for Bible Studies designed to remain as objective as possible. It equips you to open the Bible anywhere and immediately recognize your place within the grand narrative of redemption. Through carefully selected Gospel Anchor Events, revealing how each passage connects to the larger story, sparking curiosity to explore unfamiliar texts and revisit meaningful ones. Helping individuals and groups grow in their understanding of the whole Bible and be continually shaped into the image of Jesus Christ.

A Discipleship Tool

For centuries, Jewish culture placed great value on storytelling and the faithful passing down of truth through oral tradition. Each generation carefully retold the story of God and His people so the next would know not only the events, but the meaning behind them. In many ways, modern discipleship has drifted away from this rhythm. Yet research and experience consistently show that people learn, remember, and are formed most deeply through stories—because stories give meaning, context, and connection to truth in a way information alone cannot.

The Word of God declares that Scripture is “alive and active” (Hebrews 4:12), meaning it is not only to be read, but engaged, explained, and shared in community (James 1:22). Anchor seeks to recapture this tradition. Designed with both one-on-one and group discipleship in mind, it helps new and seasoned Christians grasp the grand narrative of Scripture through conversation, guided discovery, and shared reflection. Every card connects to a Anchor Event—a landmark moment in the unfolding story of redemption—so learners can clearly see how each part of the Bible fits into the whole.

Psychology Behind Anchor

Anchor has been created with human psychology in mind. As humans, we do not easily remember dates or small bits of information, but we do retain striking landmark moments. Our minds are inherently visual; we anchor memories to significant events and images. By embedding these landmark cues, Anchor helps learners remember not just where things are, but how they fit into a larger, cohesive story.

Modern research in cognitive psychology shows that people learn best through stories. When information is woven into narrative structure, it engages both emotion and imagination, making it significantly more memorable. Academic studies indicate that people can recall substantially more information when it is embedded within a well crafted story.

We also recognize the challenge of processing large amounts of information. Contemporary research highlights that modular learning, breaking knowledge into small structured units, greatly improves understanding and retention. By organizing content into clear sequential steps, learners are able to build knowledge gradually and with clarity. Anchor applies these insights by creating a structured yet dynamic approach to discipleship, enabling learners to engage deeply with the gospel message in a way that is both accessible and transformative.
